Meet Phoebe, who’s written for the magazine about seven months and runs the special column A Sprinkle of Salt!
She’s a 13-year-old in 8th grade with a preference for liberal arts and the goal of working as a nurse. She loves everything about writing for Inkpot, and her column this year will focus on both cooking and spiritual health, with “a family recipe and an Encouragement of the Month article in it.” You can also find her writing on her blog, My Blots of Ink. Besides writing, her hobbies include reading, ballet, and crafts. She also plays piano and is learning to play the harp.
An ISFJ, Phoebe describes herself as “reliable, supportive, altruistic,” and her ultimate superpower would be “perfect understanding.” Some of her favorite authors are Cynthia Voigt, Jane Austen, and Louisa May Alcott, and she sees a lot of herself in Dicey and Mina from the Tillerman series by Cynthia Voigt. She’s not a fan of either tea or coffee, but she does love dark chocolate, and her favorite animals are horses. Her favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 5:7, because it encouraged her through the sadness of her grandmother’s death, reminding her of God’s love. “He really does care, and even though it was really hard at that time it really helped me to grow in my faith and come closer to God.”
Make sure to look out for Phoebe’s column A Sprinkle of Salt in every Inkpot issue!
